It is hard and almost indescribable to imagine that I will be graduating with a bachelor’s degree in health science. Life is rarely linear; it is often convoluted and unpredictable. I have been chasing my dreams of completing this degree for many years now. In that time, I have gotten married to the love of my life. I have gone to war returned and left again. I have struggled with disabilities and setbacks but I have always kept my goal of graduating from NAU a priority.
How do you describe everything that has happened without writing a book? I can tell you that the health science program has been a challenging and rewarding experience. I have met the most amazing instructors who have a true passion for what they teach. No educational journey is without some hardships or upsets but through them all I have felt the encouragement of the program leadership. I am proud to tell others that I go to NAU and soon I will have the honor of telling them that I’m a graduate
of a truly inspirational establishment.
So now what? I am going to continue to build on the knowledge that I have gained and further my career in Physical Therapy. I truly enjoy helping others adapt and overcome physical limitations. A Physical Therapist helped me when I needed it the most and treated me like person worth caring about. As a Physical Therapist Assistant, I have strived to do the same for others. This degree will help me to continue my journey of helping others and paying forward the kindness that was given to me. When
I am asked, so now what? I think of a quote from Henry David Thoreau, “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams.” “Live the life you’ve imagined.” I will continue to live the life that I have worked for and imagined.
